I want a mailing list I actually own

A mailing list that stays yours

Most newsletter tools keep your list on their servers and charge by the size of it. Leave, and you take a spreadsheet of addresses with you. The history, the stats and the archive stay behind.

I built Currawong, a newsletter service for bands, venues and small organisations, the other way round. Your list lives with you. Sending goes through your own account with Amazon SES, Resend, Mailjet or Brevo, so you pay the sending service directly, which for Amazon SES is $0.10 per 1,000 emails. Change sending service and the list, the history and the unsubscribes don't move.

Made for gigs

Gig blocks with date, venue, poster and a ticket button. Paste a YouTube link and it becomes a picture with a play button.

Signups that look after themselves

Double opt-in, spam protection, and an unsubscribe link in every email.

Coming from Mailchimp?

One upload brings your contacts, and everyone who unsubscribed or bounced stays off the list.

Stories

Real jobs, what was wrong and what I did.

Gig calendar · off Squarespace and Mailchimpemus — exploratory music sydneyNine years of Sydney's experimental music gigs, moved off Squarespace without breaking a single old link.
Banjo chamber folk · off shared hostingThe Good BehavioursA band I love, a mock-up made on spec, and a site that now costs them roughly the price of the domain.
Currawong Newsletters

The product itself. Sign up, have a look around, and see what a gig block looks like.
