Broken, lapsed, or abandoned sites

Sites go wrong in boring ways. A subscription lapses. A page builder update breaks the layout. The person who set it up moves on and nobody has the logins. Plugins stop being updated.

Even when it looks gone, the content usually isn't: there are archived copies, data feeds, old backups and the Internet Archive. I recover what's there, rebuild it on something that doesn't need babysitting, and put it in your own accounts so it can't happen again.

In progress: a composer’s archive

A composer’s whole Wix site, archived before it can disappear: 1,552 files and nearly 2 GB, including 13 videos that were locked to the old domain. It’s rebuilt with every original address kept, and waiting to be switched over.
